Attitudes of The Sports Sciences Faculty Students with Pedagogical Formation Training Towards the Profession of Teaching

ABSTRACT:
The aim of this study is to determine the attitudes of the sports science faculty students with pedagogical formation training towards the teaching profession and to make a comparison based on some characteristics. The research was conducted as a survey model. The research group was comprised of 353 students, who were attending to the Faculty of Sports Sciences in Erciyes University during 2018-2019 education year and who received pedagogical formation training. The research data were collected using the “Attitude Scale for the Profession of Physical Education Teaching”. SPSS program was used in the analysis of the data. According to the results of the study, the attitudes of the sports science faculty students with pedagogical formation training towards the profession of teaching were determined to be at “medium level”. Additionally, there was statistically no significant difference in the attitudes of the students in the research group towards the teaching profession concerning variables such as gender, age, active participation in sports, grade point average, and grade levels; but there was a statistically significant difference concerning the department and sport branch.
